When you are logged in to your account, go to the domain dashboard for which you want to add the record. Click on manage DNS records to add new records.
In the Hostname field, if you are setting up the record for the root domain, e.g. mydomain.com, leave it blank. Once the record is saved the field will show @.
If you are setting up the record for a subdomain, e.g. mail.mydomain.com, then you would enter mail in that field.
Choose SRV from the Type drop-down menu. That will make the Priority field appear. Enter the Priority number provided. This number cannot be 0 (zero). If you have been instructed to use 0, use 1.
The Value field must contain three pieces of information, each typically separated by a space: the weight, port, and target, e.g. 0 5269 xmpp-server.l.google.com.
If you are not sure about the syntax of your SRV record instructions, just let us know. We're happy to help sort it out.
If you are using Google Workspace it will automatically add the necessary Google XMPP service records for you.
We also have a full Microsoft Office 365 setup guide as well.
